Maureen Topp is an Independent Certified Instructor of the Baby Signs® Program offering classes to the Cochrane, Airdrie, and Northwest Calgary area.
Maureen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, as well as a Bachelor of Education degree. For the last five years Maureen taught in grades K-6 receiving a nomination for the Alberta Edwin Parr Teaching Award in her first year. After having her third child Maureen made the decision to remain home to care for her children. Recently, Maureen and her family relocated to Cochrane, Alberta where she works as a dog trainer and bite prevention educator.
When Maureen’s third daughter was a baby she introduced some basic baby signs and was amazed at not only how quickly she learned to sign back, but how effectively she could communicate her needs. Giving her a way to share her feelings and needs enriched our lives and made it easier for the whole family to be involved in her care. Having not used signs with her first two children, Maureen quickly recognized and appreciated the benefits of communicating through sign and is excited to introduce her newest daughter to sign and to share this experience with other families as well.
